Exclusive : Ford Fiesta Automatic might be launched in India on November 7th
The 2011 Ford Fiesta was one of the most eagerly awaited cars of the year 2011 in India. However, the higher pricing of the model has meant that sales have been tepid thus far. Currently available only in five speed manual transmission guise, Ford India at the time of the Fiesta’s launch in India had maintained that India would soon be getting the automatic gearbox version of the Fiesta. And now if reports are to be believed, the time has come. At present the only confirmed news we have is that Ford India will be unveiling a new car in India on the 7th of November, 2011. And taking a look at the preparations for the media event we have strong reasons to believe that the launch scheduled for the 7th isn’t going to serve as stage or launchpad for the second of the eight products Ford has promised by mid-decade. That leaves us with the conclusion that the car that will be launched on the 7th is either the Ford Fiesta AT or a new variant of the Ford Figo to take on the recently launched Hyundai Eon. Coming to the car itself, the new Ford Fiesta is one of the best and expensive cars in its segment with the manual petrol variants ranging between Rs. 8.23 lakh and Rs. 9.42 lakh, while the manual diesel variants range between Rs. 9.27 lakh and Rs. 10.42 lakh. The addition of an automatic transmission is most likely to take prices up by atleast Rs. 75,000 with the automatic gearbox being offered only on the fully loaded Titanium Plus variants. Stay tuned for more updates. |
