2012 Honda Civic with diesel engine could come as early as 2013 in India
When Honda first launched the Civic in India in 2006, the sporty looks and cutting edge engine of the Honda Civic captured a lot of attention in the Indian market. Eventually Honda had to compromise in sales due to the lack of a diesel engine coupled with the rising fuel prices in India. The next generation US-spec Civic which was launched in the US a while back however failed to keep alive the Civic feeling with its toned down looks which no longer resembled or even seemed like an upgrade to the outgoing one. Thankfully though Honda has improved upon these setbacks when it came out with the Europe spec Civic and one look at the 2012 Honda Civic Europe version is more than enough reason to see why. The Europe spec Civic is the version that will be making it into India sometime in 2013 and the new Civic is 10mm wider and 20mm lower than the outgoing model. Under the hood will be 1.4-liter i-VTEC producing 100 PS and 127 Nm of torque along with the 1.8-liter i-VTEC capable of developing 142 PS and 174 Nm of torque as the petrol engines on board. The icing on the cake is the 2.2-liter i-DTEC diesel which is capable of 50 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Initially, when the 2012 Honda Civic gets launched in India by sometime mid-2013 it is uncertain whether the diesel engine will be making it but if Honda sticks by its 2013 promise of a diesel engine then we might be in for big surprise. 2012 Honda Civic Full Features, Specifications, Details : Interior styling - New functional cockpit layout (two control interface zones)
