Hyundai to bring in 10 new models to India over the next 5 years

Hyundai India will launch 10 new models over the next five years as a part of its efforts to increase its market share in the country.

We will launch two new models every year for the next five years, targeting all the segments in the automotive market. However, I cant provide more details about these models at this point of time,” Arvind Saxena, the company’s Director (Marketing and Sales), told reporters at a press conference in Hyderabad after launching its small car Eon, a rival to India’s best selling car Maruti Alto.

Hyundai Eon will be available in six trim levels and is priced from Rs. 2.75 lakh to Rs. 3.78 lakh (ex-showroom, Hyderabad). Powered by a 814 cc petrol engine that puts out 56 PS power at 5,500 rpm and 7.65 kgm torque at 4000 rpm, Eon, the new entry level model for the Korean car maker in India, offers a mileage of 21.1 kmpl (ARAI certified) and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Mr. Saxena said Hyundai was aiming to sell around 1.4 lakh units of the new small car a year. “Our target is to sell 12,500 to 13,000 units a month. We will reach this level in a couple of months,” he stated. He also mentioned that the company received around 7000 bookings for Eon across the country so far.
