India bound 2012 Audi A3 Sedan to be showcased at Geneva Motor Show

As we all know, the Audi A3 Sedan will be Audi’s all new entry level sedan for India. Scheduled to be launched in India in 2012 after the expected official unveiling at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the new A3 sedan is expected to be priced around Rs. 20 lakh and will be taking on the likes of the Mercedes Benz B-Class.

According to the latest details emerging from German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport, the production ready version of the new 2012 Audi A3 Sedan will indeed be showcased at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The annual motor show will also be host to the next generation A3 hatchback.

Audi design chief Stefan Sielaff says the A3 range set-up is similar to how the variants of the A4 and A5 ranges are configured – with the Audi A5 providing the Sportback, coupe and cabriolet variants. He also said the next Audi A3′s interior will be influenced by the Audi A3 e-tron concept (shown below) the automaker introduced at Auto Shanghai earlier this year.

For the next A3, Audi is also developing a new 1.4 liter petrol unit (producing 140 PS / 103 kW / 138 hp) with cylinder deactivation. The unit is able to shut down two of the four cylinders under a light load which can represent a saving of up to 1.0 liter/100 km in fuel-economy when traveling at a constant speed of 50 km/h.
