France based leading car maker Renault will be unveiling the production version of it's compact car prior to the start of the inaugural Formula One Grand Prix of India, which is scheduled to take place on October 28-30th. This small car, which is said to be based on the V-Platform will share parts with the Nissan Micra and that includes the 1.2 Liter, 75 Bhp petrol engine and the 1.5 Liter, 65 bhp DCi diesel engine.

Mr. Carlos Ghosn, Chairman Chief Executive Officer at Nissan-Renault, will be on India visit in the last week of this month, during the inaugural Buddh Indian F1 Grand Prix, to unveil the firm's volumes puller, a B+segment hatchback. The car will be pitched against the likes of Maruti's Swift, co-partner Nissan's Micra and Volkswagen's Polo. The company will also launch its sport utility vehicle (SUV) Duster early next year, said Sudhir Rao, deputy managing director, Renault group in India.

There have also been rumors doing round that Renault’s new small car for India will be the Renault Modus, which has also been spotted testing in India a number of times. When asked about the Modus during the Renault Koleos launch, Renault India officials were quick to point out that the Modus was undergoing tropical weather testing in India, and was a car that was actually meant for the European market.

At this point though it is still unclear whether the new offering from Renault will be the Modus or a new small car based on the V-Platform. Stay tuned for more updates.
